“American Idol” is the ultimate TiVo show. All those “stretch the show out so we can show one more ShamWow commercial” moments are usually a no-brainer to blast by on your way to the few moments you actually care about.

The exception to the TiVo rule was the “AI” final last night, which was, at the very least, not boring.

Love or hate the show, what other TV sensation do you know that can get Lionel Richie, Steve Martin and KISS on the same stage? (What I really would have loved to see would have been Steve Martin smashing his banjo on the stage with the KISS guys after their set. Maybe next year.)

The worldwide media awoke in a depression-induced stupor this morning, as Kris Allen pulled off the upset win over Adam Lambert. I thought A.L. would win – partially because the press had decided he was clearly their favorite (insert your own reasons why here), so the win by KA is that much more impressive.

Oh yeah, and “bikini girl” showed up…completely in an effort to bring her down a few pegs by the judges. Only one way to top that at next year’s finale:
