I ran across this story that people who see Avatar leave depressed, some even suicidal. It's just a movie but apparently for some fans, it is exposing deep within them a longing for something more. Check out this comment on a site set up to help deal with post-Avatar depression:
"Ever since I went to see 'Avatar' I have been depressed. Watching the wonderful world of Pandora and all the Na'vi made me want to be one of them. I can't stop thinking about all the things that happened in the film and all of the tears and shivers I got from it," Mike posted. "I even contemplate suicide thinking that if I do it I will be rebirthed in a world similar to Pandora and the everything is the same as in 'Avatar.' "
There are two conclusions someone could draw from this: Either these people are nuts, which is unlikely because of the sheer amount of people all dealing with this at once. Or, more likely, this is exposing problem that many people share, deep in the recesses of our soul.
God's book say's that we are created with a longing for something for more, something better than this. It actually says that He (God) has put eternity in our hearts. Blaise Pascal said that we are all created with a God shaped whole that we long to fill. It's a fact that every human being is indeed longing for more.
The world of the Na'vi may be beautiful and grand, but I promise you, it pales in light of what is to come for those who give their lives to Jesus Christ. If your interested in hearing more, please, click here.
