| The Last 10 Percent |
Seth Godin is a famous leadership Guru. I read his blog, and today it really resonated with me and with what we are trying to do here at TheDougAndJonShow.com.
In his blog "Hardly Worth the Effort" Seth describes the need for the last 10 percent to be awesome, and how it's that quality mark that separates your average joe from your amazing joe.
What comes to mind is the recent video; Doug and Jon Diffuse a Bomb. The scene with the robot was ridiculously complicated involving a full day of shooting, then another day of editing. The funny thing is, that shot is 4 seconds long. We decided as a team a long time ago that if we are going to do anything we are going to do our best. (Look for the forthcoming behind the scenes 'Geek Vid' explaining just how we did that robot shot.) It's not that we always live up to this standard, but we have tried to make a culture out of excellence around here.
It's a good principal to have in life because it's always good to "Be That Guy". The guy who will always put in that last 10 percent, no matter what your doing, whether doing a school report, being a gentleman on a date, or bringing a robot to life outside the old lumber mill.
